Worth Keeping

Individual Lesson

The teacher assigns one or more cards to the student.

The student reads the card, decides whether the thing is worth keeping or should be replaced, and prepares a few reasons to support their opinion.

The teacher asks follow-up questions, encourages the student to explain their ideas, and introduces alternative viewpoints to extend the discussion.

Pair / Group work (including breakout rooms)

The teacher assigns one or more cards to each pair or group.

Students take turns presenting their cards, sharing their opinions, and explaining their reasons.

Their partners can ask follow-up questions and discuss:

• Why do you think that?

• What are the advantages?

• What is replacing it?

• Which option do you prefer?

• What would society lose if it disappeared?

Students can challenge each other's ideas, agree or disagree, and compare different perspectives.

Class sharing

Invite students or groups to share their most interesting discussions with the class.

Students can discuss:

• which item was most worth keeping

• which item should be replaced

• which topic created the most disagreement

• which replacement is clearly better

• which traditional thing still has an important role

• which answer surprised them the most
