Individual work
- The teacher assigns the student one or more cards.
- The student reads the card and thinks about how the product, service, or experience was designed to keep people engaged.
- They explain which strategies or features make it attractive, effective, or difficult to stop using, using the phrase starters.
- The teacher can model a sample answer before the activity.
- For example: **Limited-Edition Drops** — *"I think this was designed to create excitement. People don't want to miss the opportunity to buy something rare, so they act quickly. What makes it effective is the feeling of exclusivity."*
Pair / Group work (including breakout rooms)
- The teacher assigns one or more cards to each pair or group.
- One student explains how they think the product or service was designed to hook users and keep them coming back.
- Their partner reacts — do they agree or disagree? — and adds their own ideas.
- Then they swap roles with a new card.
Class sharing
Invite some students or groups to share their most interesting ideas with the class.
The students can discuss:
* which products were the most effective at hooking users
* which strategies seemed the most powerful
* which examples were the most surprising
* whether the same strategy appeared in different products or services
